How to point your MX records to your mail server

This is not as tricky as people make out and it involves only creating two records; 1 MX and 1 A record

Firstly create an A record called something like 'mail' which points to the IP address where your mail server is located.

Secondly create an MX record which uses 'mail.<yourdomainname>.tld' as the address.

Nameserver doesn't exist at registry?

Can anyone shed any light on this error.

I've seen it a few times and ended up having to use different Nameservers.

What does this mean?

"Nameserver doesn't exist at registry"

Something to do with the registry of the nameservers I'm using or the one of the domain I'm applying them to?

What have I done wrong?

There's a bit of confusion around framed/cloacked and non-framed/uncloacked web forwarding - I got a really helpful response from a tech support analyst and thought I would pass it on!

Framed Web Forwarding is when the user is forwarded from 'example.com' to 'http://www.myotherpage.com' they will still see 'example.com' in the address bar, so they will be unaware that they have been forwarded to a different page.

Non-framed Web Forwarding is when the user is forwarded ...

Glue Records

Glue records are basically how you can use you domain to be used as it's own namer server for other domains using your own designated IP addresses.

For example if you wished to set the name servers of example.com to ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com you would need to also provide the glue records (i.e. the IP addresses) for ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com.

If you did not provide the glue records for these name servers then your domain ...

Domain Name System (DNS)

Domain Name System (DNS)

Define Domain Name System (DNS)

The Domain Name System is how domain names (such as webwiseforum.com) are translated into IP addresses (such as 154.312.133.327) for computers to read. DNS is used every single time a web page is accessed online. It's the reason we can use domain names and therefore don't have to remember a string of numbers for every site we visit.

You can learn much more about DNS and ...
