A global attack on the internet has failed to bring it down.
The so-called "denial of service attack" slowed down three of the 13 Internet root servers - which manage the domains from various locations around the world. The attack means the servers were bombarded with information requests. The hackers are being traced and some reports suggest the attack came through South Korea, although security experts say that doesn't mean those responsible are based there. In fact, they say PCs around the world were infected and used as "zombies," meaning your grandmother's computer in the bedroom - unbeknownst to her - may have been trying to bring down the Internet. It is believed to be the worst attack on the internet's infrastructure since late 2002.

I really don't understand the point of this what-so-ever! even if it was acheived afterwards surely they people that did it would be annoyed they could check certain sites!
I think that the reason it came from Korea is because many users have access to unprotected 100mbit lines. In HongKong for example they have rolled out 100mbit home internet. If only we could get that in the UK! |
