Default Which ISP do you use?

I just thought I would see what ISP some of our users are on. I'm based in the UK with freedom2surf and they were aquired by pipex just over a year ago. Now it seems that pipex are up for sale and that BT and Virgin are interested the service has been getting worse since pipex took over so now I'm worried.

So which ISP's are you on. What speed? Do you have any usage caps?

If I have to change any recommendations? Cable isnt available in my area unfortuately.

I am with freedom2surf too actually. I used to be with freeserve but they introduced caps on my usage and I could get the same speed with no caps at f2s so I migrated but now I'm capped. I don't mind the cap that much, I just never seem to hit high speeds that often any more. When I was at freeserve I had a pretty constant top speed when downloading without using download accelerators. The members area and the 100mb webspace are very good with f2s though I find.

Oh I am on the 8mbit with 0.5mbit upload. Anyone else know about this adsl 2 system BT is going on about?

Whilst I was at Uni I was with telewest, which was blueyonder and they were awesome. I was on a 10mbit cable upload was only 75k but I didn' care there were no caps. I nearly managed to download the internet, I moved out of that house and I'm not with them anymore but Virgin media bought them and NTL. People that have changed to them seem happy but the existing customers seem to see the service falling. Just thought I should mention it as you mentioned Virgin might be taking over your ISP.

Pipex seemed to have been buying up a few of the smaller ISPs. They own Nildram as well, which from what I've heard from a mate who uses them, is pretty reliable and the help/support is pretty good.

I blame The Hoff!

Default Isp

Yes but they also own 123-reg which has to be the worst customer support I've experienced.

Personally I would stay well away from them, have a look at virgin media or Tiscali aren’t bad, I've been within them a couple of years now and no problems what so ever.

When these companies are aquired do they keep the same trading name or do the become pipex and all share the same user base.

Default 123

They normally keep the same identity, I know that 123-reg has, Pipex then introduced a domains section on there web site.

If the brand is well known I guess it benefits the company to keep it running with the same name.
