Data transfer is the amount of digital data that is moved from one place to another in a given time. Outbound traffic from a website, with the exception of e-mail, is considered to be data transfer. Data transfer can also be know as bandwidth.

Some hosting providers may have restrictions on the volume of data transfer or bandwidth that can be used per month, at which point additional charges may be incurred.
