Default Erroneous Design Rules

As well as useful articles about good web design, the internet is rife with erroneous design "rules" which are too rigid to be helpful, or just plain untrue. The three-click rule is a classic example of this, but there are others, such as the rule that all your content should appear above the "fold" (meaning that your website visitors should never have to scroll down.
