What's the domain Whois daterbase?

The whois database contains all details for domain names that have been registered, different domain extensions are controlled by different naming authorities and different whois databases, and for example all .uk domains are controlled by Nominet UK, Nominet control the .uk whois database where as Eurid control .eu domains and therefore the .eu whois service.
