If I wanted to sell my domain name would I shop around for the best price per domain company or would it be the same price everywhere?

This would depend on where you advertise the domain for sale, if your placing it on a site / forum which is very popular and has a lot of users then yes you may get a better price than if you list it on a relatively unknown site with a small number of users.
