Now that you have your domain you will need a hosting provider, if its for personal use with most broadband packages your provider gives you an allocation of hosting space which your domain can be connected to in order to host your website.

If you’re looking to use the domain for business use then you will need a professional hosting provider, if you need help in choosing a provider please let us know and we can point you in the right direction.

Is a Hosting Space a web page that I can make my own?

Its space on a server where you upload your website files to. Your domain needs to be connected to your hosting provider’s servers for it to work.

The hosting space is where all your files are stored so that when someone types in your domain name the information like the webpage and any pictures on it are sent from there.

So you upload your webpage there, then they are stored there.

When someone looks at your page they download the files from there.

Does the hosting company keep my website on their own servers?

the files will be located on your hosts servers as this is where your domain is pointed to, make sure you keep a copy of the files you never know when your own backup is going to be needed.

Is it quite common for Hosting companies to lose your files?

I guess it depends if your using a decent web host, it better to be safe than sorry, I always keep a back up copy and never work directly on the live files.

Does your Hosting company give you any sort of compensation should anything happen to your files?

Your hosting provider would hold your web site files, once you've uploaded the files to the server.
