Hi guys,
I have a query with regards to the Web Forwarding feature within the Members Area. Ok, so for the Domain that I am managing, I select Framed Web Forwarding (cloaked) and then enter the target URL and a Title. What I want to know is :- Is the browser STILL at my Domain name but has only 'fetched' the page at the target URL - OR has the browser left my Domain and has been transferred to the target Domain that contains the URL link? For example: Managing MYDOMAIN.CO.UK Setup Web Forwarding (cloaked) to web address ANOTHERDOMAIN.CO.UK/home.html When the Browser opens MYDOMAIN.CO.UK then does the web forwarding, does the Browser stay at the domain MYDOMAIN.CO.UK or is it being transferred to the 3rd party domain ANOTHERDOMAIN.CO.UK ?? Hope this makes sense - If you require any further details please get back to me. Last edited by DanJ : 04-11-07 at 22:12. |

Not sure exactly what you mean by "transferred" to the target domain.
Its "Framed" forwarding - so when you access MYDOMAIN.CO.UK your browser is sent a Frameset which basically tells your browser to load ANOTHERDOMAIN.CO.UK/home.html in a Frame. The alternative, Non-Framed forwarding does a redirect from your MYDOMAIN.CO.UK to ANOTHERDOMAIN.CO.UK, so your browser visits one domain followed by the other. You can see more about frames here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_frames.asp Hope that makes sense. Thats a fairly simplified view of what happens -- if you need to know more you need to understand how browsers load websites... |
